CAD interfaces towards mesh generators quite often create problems if one has to rely on exchange formats like IGES, Parasolid or similar, especially if the number of individual surface patches is high, like a typical IGES export from NAPA. Within the research project FORM-PRO and a number of in-house activities new triangulation methods have been implemented and made available to our users in release 2.3. Read more.

The Naval Architecture & Ocean Engineering (NAOE) department of Hochschule Bremen Germany and the NAOE Ship Design & Production Laboratory (SDPL) of Pusan National University Korea (PNU) are very active users of the FRIENDSHIP-Framework and customers of FRIENDSHIP SYSTEMS, too. Two Ph.D. students of SDPL visited the HS Bremen and performed a butterfly valve optimization project in January 2011. Read more.

R&D: Project BEST+ Proves Holistic Design Approach

The prime interest of utilizing the FRIENDSHIP-Framework has been shape design and optimization in hydro- and aerodynamics. Functional surfaces such as ship hulls, propellers, compressors, volutes and pipes are developed by simulation-driven design, leading to substantial improvements in both product quality and process speed. Naturally, an intriguing further step is to investigate several multi-disciplinary objectives at the same time. Read more.
