Simulation-driven Design
The essence of simulation-driven design is the merging of computer aided design (CAD) and flow simulation (for instance computational fluid dynamics, CFD) in the design process. Integrated simulation helps to streamline and speed up the process chain and thereby to deliver results significantly faster than traditional approaches.
Simulation-driven design turns the design process around. Traditionally, setting up the geometry is followed by checking the geometry's performance—with CAD being the driver of geometry development. In simulation-driven design, in contrast, the designer employs integrated simulation to determine optimal shapes (tight merger of CAD and simulation). He defines desired performance and quality and then utilizes computer power to generate options—thereby simulation becomes the driver of the geometry development.
The FRIENDSHIP-Framework is the spearhead of technological development. Throughout the globe, it is the only software solution for simulation-driven design, which functionally combines computer aided design (CAD) and computational fluid dynamics (CFD). FRIENDSHIP SYSTEMS has determined the evolution of flow-exposed surface design by making simulation-driven design applicable for hydro and aerodynamic design. This technology is yet established in topology opimization through, for instance, finite elemente analysis (FEA).
Integrated simulation is the core element of the design process within the FRIENDSHIP-Framework and driver of the geometry development
