Exporting STL Files of a Propeller

Recommended Posts

Hi.

I'm a second year mechanical engineering student trying to design some propellers for a project course. It does not have to be optimized, I just want some better propellers than that I can draw on solidworks.

I have designed generic blade shapes and I need STL files so that i can 3D print them but whatever I do I can not get the propeller watertight.

I'm pretty sure that there is a very easy way but I just can't figure it out. I even tried exporting a STL of only the blade of the propeller and completing it into a propeller in solidworks, but unfortunately solidworks cannot handle that many triangles... I tried generating surfaces from the edges but for some reason edges of the propeller are FString and not FCurve.

Please help me.

How can I convert the propeller object into an STL?

Hi Muammer,

I modified the propeller model which you can find in the link: http://www.friendshi...eling-practice/

I deleted everything but not the propeller blades and the hub. The blades are fully parametric.

Unfortunately, the NOB and the hub are not variable by just changing a parameter.

You have to change both manually.

Cheers

Matthias
