The design of a wide range of turbomachinery components is covered by the generalized software FRIENDSHIP-Framework. Typically, designers of such geometries are looking for an optimal shape with regard to some (often conflicting) objectives like pressure loss, gas uniformity or robustness. In particular, the investigated geometries can be quite complex in this specific industry branch and e.g. a suitable parametric model is mandatory for formal optimizations. CFD evaluations might take a long time for a single design so the combination of a dedicated parametric geometry and a good optimization strategy will finally enable automated processes at all.
The FRIENDSHIP-Framework allows turbomachinery engineers to create these smart geometry descriptions. Based on this, formal optimizations and statistical studies can be instantly carried out, tightly coupled with the individual software for flow analysis.
Example Applications
- General blade design e.g. of fans, compressors or turbines
- Design of volutes for radial compressors and turbines
- Pump design
