Licenses - Modes & Scope

FRIENDSHIP SYSTEMS provides several license modes, which differ in their nature and scope. The license types are designed to match your specific needs and to help you make the most of your resources.

Perpetual license approach

FRIENDSHIP SYSTEMS generally issues perpetual licenses.  This approach provides full functionality and regular updates plus access to latest developments and extensive support services for the first year issued along with the optional prolongation.  Perpetual licenses grant continuous high return on investment and guarantee the highest lasting benefit from the functionality and the upgrades of the FRIENDSHIP-Framework as well as from the range of supplying services.
This license mode is bound to hardware. That means, licenses are activated persistently for specific computers or work stations. Hence, the licensed software may be installed and employed  solely on the registered hardware.

Floating license

An upgrade to the Floating license extends your flexibility. It grants you the full functionality of the FRIENDSHIP-Framework along with the option to install and run the software on several computers at a time, depending on the license scope. A floating license is web-based and not hardware-bound. It works on the basis of a server entry, which indicates the license state in relation to the hardware, on which the software currently runs. Hence, if you purchase a floating license for one FRIENDSHIP-Framework edition, the software may well be installed on several computers, yet may run only on one hardware at a time. If you license two editions, the software may well be installed on numerous computers, yet may run on only two of these at a time (and so forth).

Rent license

An at all times up-to-date FRIENDSHIP-Framework license and a flexible time frame are the key benefits of the Rent license. It is the perfect solution for project-based work. This short-term license mode is the key to the complex engineering functionality of the FRIENDSHIP-Framework in attractive packaging. Our rates for one FRIENDSHIP-Framework to rent are:

• First week (at 24 hours a throw for 7 days): € 680
• The second week is an additional € 600
• Any following week is licensed for € 520 / week

An example illustrates this: rent a FRIENDSHIP-Framework license for four weeks (28 days):

€ 680 + € 600 + € 520 + € 520 = € 2320

For any additional license of the FRIENDSHIP-Framework, the charge is 50 percent of the base price for any week, i.e. € 340 / week for any additional license until the first license expires.

Use case: rent two licenses of the FRIENDSHIP-Framework  for one month (four weeks / 28 days):

€ 680 + € 600 + € 520 + € 520 + 4 x € 340  = € 3680 €

Student license

Students receive a free FRIENDSHIP-Framework license once they produce a valid proof of their enrollment with a university or academic institution in Naval Architecture or similar fields. Getting started with the FRIENDSHIP-Framework is simple—just contact us for details.

Service and regular upgrades

We provide standard service packages (SSP) for our software products. They include

• Priority help desk via online issue tracker
• Direct question-and-answer assistance via email, phone and fax
• Regular updates with minor and major releases
• Reduced rates on further product related services, e.g. participation in Users' Meeting

The issue tracker allows the efficient communication with  the FRIENDSHIP SYSTEMS support team. An issue is an email launched from our website and sent to the general inbox of the support team. From there it is distributed to the most responsive and most competent person. Depending on your support needs, the communication receives an identification number and is transparent to the entire support team. This guarantees the easy follow-up of open topics and further assistance.

The FRIENDSHIP-Framework is structured in modules. Starting from general functionality, you can upgrade and extend the standard version so that it optimally fits your purpose.
