Design Principles and Basic Knowledge

As a basic two-day training course "Design Principles and Basic Knowledge" introduces the broad CAD functionality available within the FRIENDSHIP-Framework and guides through the main applications of the program. delta shift

Target Audience

People from industry and academia dealing with naval architecture and turbomachinery, e.g. design engineers, simulation experts, scientists from universities, but also graduate students, who are interested in using the FRIENDSHIP-Framework.

Objective and Emphasis

Course objective is to enable designers to work efficiently with conventional, partially and fully parametric modeling techniques by learning about the basic concepts and functionality of the program.

Structure 

Elements of this training course are:

  • Introduction to ideas, structures and potentials of the FRIENDSHIP-Framework
  • Graphical User Interface (GUI)
  • Geometric Modeling: Basics of Curve and Surface Modeling
  • Variation and Optimization: Design Engines and Variant Management
  • Image Technology and Basic Transformations
  • Offset Generation and Export
  • Geometric Modeling: FSpline Curves and Parametric Approach
  • Feature Technology

Requirements

Some CAD experience is advantageous yet no prerequisite. In order to familiarize with the FRIENDSHIP-Framework in advance you may download a free trial version of the program here.
