Successful CAESES European Users’ Meeting 2017

First of all, thanks a lot to all attendees of the CAESES® European Users’ Meeting 2017 (27-29 Sep) for making this event such a huge success! Everyone from FRIENDSHIP SYSTEMS fully enjoyed meeting and chatting with you, and we got inspired by your ideas and your positive feedback.

Thanks to everyone for coming!

Workshops

On the first day, we had three CAESES® workshops (advanced maritime / advanced turbomachinery & powertrain / apps). The goal was to show some of the advanced modeling details as well as tips and tricks that we use ourselves at FRIENDSHIP SYSTEMS in our daily project work. In particular, we discussed geometry modeling features that are not that obvious and which tremendously help to create robust variable models for automated optimization.

Exhibition

This was a fantastic exhibition! Software vendors, CAE consultants and academic representatives shared their expertise with the attendees to discuss current challenges and trends in the CAE sector. The TU Berlin (faSTTUBe) showed their current Formula student race car where people could sit in the car to “carefully” touch the steering wheel 😉

User Presentations

All presenters did a great job! It was really entertaining to listen to the given presentations. The audience could get a very good overview of where and how CAESES® is used for the design and optimization of flow-exposed products: Turbines, propellers, ship hulls, manifolds, pumps, race cars …  At the same time, one could get an idea of how challenging all these different applications are, with all their complex design constraints and pressing time-schedules.

Split Sessions

On day two, we had several split sessions which were grouped by the topics Maritime, Turbomachinery and Powertrain, Optimization and CAESES® Apps. All sessions were nicely filled up, and it gave the audience the opportunity to ask more detailed questions in the corresponding field of interest.

Academic Exhibition

In the exhibition area, the attendees had a chance to get information about recent academic projects. In these projects, CAESES® had been coupled to other CAE-tools in order to optimize flow-exposed components such as race car wings, ship hulls and exhaust manifolds.
